The United Kingdom is set to progress with utilizing the full worth of frozen Russian holdings to support Ukraine's war effort, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a shared declaration, the heads of state of the Britain, the French Republic, and Germany asserted that this joint measure would increase strain on Russian President Vladimir Putin and urge Moscow to participate in talks.

They added that the decision would be implemented in tight collaboration with the US.

UK penalties have blocked over £25bn of Russian funds since Moscow initiated its widespread offensive against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, until now, funds provided to Ukraine using Russia's assets had exclusively been drawn from gains and dividends generated on them.

Sir Keir told Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and Germany were united in their desire to drive progress toward using the complete amount of the frozen Russia's state holdings to halt hostilities.

He added that additional restrictions soon would heighten the tension on Russia.

This declaration is subsequent to EU leaders gathered in the Danish capital previously to consider employing frozen Russian holdings for a €140 billion loan to the Ukrainian nation.

In the previous month, American leader Donald Trump encouraged international partners to confiscate or employ immobilized Russia's funds, as reported by media sources.

The total of immobilized Russia's assets in the EU is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

Russia carried out widespread bombardments across the Ukrainian territory on Friday, resulting in blackouts in many areas of Kyiv, the city, and eight other regions.

Several persons were lost their lives and no fewer than 20 people were hurt in the strike, Ukrainian officials reported.

In a message on an online platform following the incident, Zelensky wrote that the premeditated assault aimed at non-military and power facilities.

"What is required is not mere statements but concrete steps - from the United States, EU, and the seven nations - in providing defense mechanisms and implementing restrictions," he wrote.

"Every sanction decision undermines Russia's war machine," Zelensky declared, in a separate post.

Additionally that day, Zelensky told the press he would press Sir Keir to participate in the Purl scheme, under which alliance members acquire military equipment from the US to donate to the Ukrainian forces.

While applauding the Britain's firm backing for the Ukrainian government, he remarked it should send a clear signal that it would engage in the initiative, as well as impose more sanctions on Moscow.
