England’s men’s team will commence their Euro 2028 journey at the Etihad Stadium, assuming they attain the relatively straightforward passage for a championship staged throughout most of the United Kingdom and the Irish Republic.

Manchester City’s home ground has not hosted an England men’s fixture since eight years ago, when Turkey were defeated 2-1 in a exhibition match, but is expected to welcome the Three Lions for their inaugural game on Saturday 10 June 2028.

England are set to play their final two group matches at Wembley, but, should they win Group B, their round of 16 match would take place at the Newcastle stadium. Finishing second would mean starting the knockouts at Everton’s ground.

Tournament Kickoff and Demonstration

The event was launched at an ceremony in Piccadilly Circus on Wednesday evening. High-ranking officials from the tournament organizers and the organizing bodies were heckled as they entered the location by around fifty activists, who demanded the Israeli team to be kicked out from the sport because of the conflict in Gaza.

Signs were held up with phrases reading “Show Israel the red card” and “You are complicit”, while demonstrators called out: “Kick Israel out.”

Event Fixture List

The first match of the tournament will be staged at the Cardiff’s stadium in Cardiff, on a Friday in June 2028, a fixture that will feature the Welsh team if they make it.

Wembley Stadium will host both semi-finals and the championship match, which will be played on a Sunday in July 2028 with a kick-off time at 5:00 PM.

It is anticipated that an afternoon start, which will also be used for Champions League finals from the upcoming season, will appeal to family audiences and help connect with a more diverse set of fans.

Host Nations

The Ireland are scheduled to play their opening match at the Dublin Arena and the Scottish team would follow suit at Hampden Park.

Each host nation’s squad will participate in the qualifying tournament; two reserved places will be held in reserve for any that fail to qualify for Euro 2028 through the standard process.

Stadiums and Elimination Phase

The Birmingham venue and Tottenham Hotspur Stadium complete the event’s nine venues. All will hold at least one elimination game, with the quarterfinal matches held at the national stadium of each host.

The draw for the qualifiers will be held in Belfast, which was removed as a host city last year when it was revealed Casement Park could not be redeveloped in time, on a date in late 2026.
