The Renowned Musician Encourages Support to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort aims to deliver assistance to Gaza's residents while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
A Possibility for Unity and an "Unlikely Coup"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians during the holidays. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, Christmas singles are a thing unto themselves.”
Powerful Theme of Self-Determination
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's defiant core message.
“It has a very special place for many individuals,” Barghouti said. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Star-Studded Lineup
The single was laid down following a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the piece was shelved during the concert due to the event running long.
The diverse array of performers featured on Lullaby encompasses a group of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the benefit event, which successfully generated a considerable total for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was crafted by a group of producers and composers. The single blends a mix of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The group managing the campaign have stated that their goal is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.
“There is no a specific target,” a figure said. “We’ll go for as much as possible. Naturally, the more the merrier. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the territory was described as its profound destruction, with a overwhelming percentage of property described as destroyed or damaged.
“In that context, a handful of millions doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is primarily making this cause better known and proving the human dimension of the story.”
The song is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from mid-December.
