Iran Claims Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed operations across the region in response for a significant and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with great effectiveness and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
It said wreckage landed in a residential area in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
