According to recent claims from a whistleblower, the convicted associate of Jeffrey Epstein, now completing a two-decade sentence for trafficking offenses, is allegedly readying a commutation application for review by the Trump administration.

Preferential Handling Claimed at Federal Prison

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee announced that a whistleblower provided information indicating Maxwell is preparing the commutation application. They also stated she has been receiving special treatment at the federal prison camp in the Lone Star State.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the ranking member on the committee, declared in a news release that the facility's chief was assisting Maxwell with copying, printing, and sending documents to support her bid for executive mercy.

The exact content of the “commutation application” remain unclear, Raskin added.

Claimed Perks and Special Accommodations

Raskin states that, per the insider, the prisoner has been given specially prepared food that are hand-delivered to her cell, and the warden has “personally arranged” exclusive visits for Maxwell and her guests.

These meetings allegedly include a designated private space for visitors and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her guests.

Those visiting Maxwell were also allowed to bring computers, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the security risk and potential for unsupervised contact.

In one alleged instance, when phone lines went down for other inmates, she was provided directions about who she should tell her contacts to call and how personnel would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The whistleblower further reportedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to review and edit documents promptly, she reportedly employed the warden as her private aide.

The statement indicates that Maxwell’s correspondents would send files directly to the warden, who would hand them over to the inmate, who would review and edit them and provide them back to the official to digitize and send to the original sender.

Extra Benefits Reported

Further perks allegedly granted to her include opportunities to interact with a service dog puppy – a benefit not “ordinarily allowed” – as well as exclusive nighttime use to the prison exercise area.

Her legal counsel did not immediately respond to a inquiry regarding the whistleblower’s claims.

In a statement, the presidential office said that it “does not comment” on possible pardon appeals.

“As President Trump has stated, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the representative noted.

Recent Background

Recently, it was reported that she told friends and family in electronic messages that she was more content at the new prison than her previous prison.

In August, Maxwell was moved from a low-security prison in Florida's capital to the minimum-security camp in Texas, where most inmates are serving time for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which authorities called as “unprecedented”, occurred just shortly following she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, the official, who also previously served as the President's personal lawyer.

That interview came as the administration was facing increasing scrutiny to release more documents related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around the President's own connections to the disgraced financier and adjudicated criminal, who was found dead in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting prosecution on sex-trafficking charges.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, Raskin also announced that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and urged the president to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any type of pardon to this convicted and unrepentant sex offender,” Raskin wrote in the letter. “Your Administration should not be providing her with room service, with puppies to play with, with government agents waiting on her every need, or with any special treatment or facility benefit at all.”

Raskin requested that Blanche appear for a open legislative session to discuss the revelations and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

He inquired whether he had discussed a potential commutation for Maxwell with the official or others, whether he had directed Blanche or anyone else to provide Maxwell with the move or favorable and preferential treatment in detention, and whether she, her lawyers, family or representatives have made any commitments to the President or his legal team.

The representative requested for a response to the questions by 24 November.

Last month, the US supreme court rejected an petition from the convict on her sex-trafficking conviction.
