Ariana Grande visited Singapore for the regional launch of Wicked: For Good

Passionate supporters of the pop star are demanding that a individual who leaped a barrier and grabbed the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be detained or removed from Singapore.

A widely shared clip depicts the Australian man bypassing media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the actors made its way down a promenade accompanied by fans.

Cast member Cynthia Erivo immediately guided the stunned actress away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the premiere by event staff.

Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being taken in", though legal records showed that he was set to be present on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was charged.

Pattern of Disruptions

This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile features clips of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney show in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last December.

"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is obviously a legal violation," stated an Instagram user, in a reply to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.

"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user wrote.

Supporters Voice Worry Over the Star's Safety

Several followers criticized Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed experiencing PTSD after a devastating incident at the end of her May 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming many.

"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote a further message on Instagram.

A number of fans also faulted security officers at the premiere for not being adequately prepared; while different individuals demanded online networks to ban Mr Wen's uploads.

Aftermath and Premiere Information

In clips shared widely, Grande appeared shocked when she was approached by the man. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by staff.

Grande has not commented on the situation, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.

Fans at Wicked premiere
Hundreds of Singapore attendees had lined up to meet the performers of Wicked

Hundreds of fans had gathered in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it commenced.

The movie, to be released on 21 November, is the second of a dual version of the well-known theatrical production Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected friendship between two very different sorceresses.

The musical itself is a derivative of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a light pink glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.

They were alongside co-star Jeff Goldblum.

The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning movie of last year in the UK, and earned a dozen Oscar nominations, winning several for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
